A review of the veg*n restaurant Iydea Vegetarian Kitchen in Brighton, England.

Brighton Vegan Bites: Iydea

A staple of fast fresh vegan and vegetarian food in Brighton, Iydea Vegetarian Kitchen boasts 2 locations and a new vegan sister restaurant, Rootcandi.

Iydea Vegetarian Kitchen Brighton England

Serving up fast, fresh and healthy vegan and vegetarian food, Iydea definitely has some ideal locations in the city, in the ever-so-hip Kensington Gardens in Brighton's North Laine neighborhood, and the posh Western Road spot, now complete with their new sister restaurant Rootcandi (vegan tapas!).

You can pop in and grab a quick bite to eat for breakfast, lunch or even an early dinner. You'll find a huge selection of delicious freshly made juices and smoothies, in addition to coffee, tea, wine and beer as well. The restaurant has an easy cafeteria style so you can pick and choose what you want right at the counter and dig in immediately! After you get a whiff of the delectable smells inside this place, you'll want to inhale your food.

And, worth nothing, everything is very reasonably priced and actually pretty inexpensive for the area. Fast, fresh, easy, cheap, cozy, and with a warm inviting atmosphere to boot.

Their menu changes daily. You can mix and match entrees, sides, sauces, toppings in seemingly endless combinations. In addition to tons of delicious side and salads, the entries are often an eclectic assortment of savory goodies like curries, quiches, couscous, stroganoff, lasagna, enchiladas, and more. They are quite creative in their meal planning. There is so much variety. It would definitely be very hard to get bored eating here. And I kindof love that about it.

The food, in addition to being delicious, is also quite nutritious! Iydea likes to focus on whole, local and seasonal foods as much as possible. They also stay away from genetically modified foods and don't use any artificial flavorings, colors, and preservatives. Their commitment to the environment also extends to their food packaging, which is both biodegradable and compostable. And, as most locals are happily well aware, they would rather give their leftovers away at the end of the day then waste them! I think this is quite unique and also great proof of what an awesome locally-supporting business Iydea really is.

Endless meal combos: vegan jambalaya stuffed roti, fresh veggies and sauce, vegan potato salad and kale with seed topping.

Visit Iydea at 17 Kensington Gardens or at their second location at 105 Western Road. Try their sister restaurant Rootcandi upstairs!
