What I Ate in Taipei: A Vegan Food Tour

The internet’s favorite spot for burger reviews and greasy-spoon gossip is heading to Taiwan for the ultimate Taipei vegan food guide!

I just wrapped up a carb-heavy trek looking for the best vegan restaurants in Taipei.

While this city is famous for its night markets, I went on a mission to see how their plant-based comfort food scene stacks up.

Spoiler alert: Taipei is a vegan paradise.

Even better, your tastebud joirney can be a seamless geographic crawl—starting near Taipei Main Station, winding through the historic Dadaocheng and Dihua Street areas, and making a quick stop at the bustling Daan district for a mid-tour treat.

Here is exactly what I ate across six incredible stops!

1. Vegan Amore

I started this tour at a plant-based joint called Vegan Amore for their vegan cheeseburger with kimchi.

And this one had serious soul—gooey cheese, a toasted bun, and a savory bite elevated by the sharp, spicy crunch of kimchi.

2. SYOSyoHOUBou

Next, I hit up the historic Dihua Street area for SYOSyoHOUBou (無所洋食).

This cozy, retro Japanese spot nailed it with their curry rice, offering robust, concentrated flavors and a brilliant aromatic punch.

3. Koneko Cafe

Needing a sweet afternoon pick-me-up, I stopped by Koneko Cafe.

I paired a smooth coffee with a slice of their vegan cheesecake, which was unbelievably rich and creamy.

4. NUTTEA

You can't skip bubble tea in Taipei, so I hit up NUTTEA for a classic vegan bubble tea.

Their signature nut cream top is insanely velvety and easily rivals any traditional milk tea.

5. Mukuchi

I tracked down Mukuchi (無口小廚) for their famous vegan ramen with an oat milk soup base.

It’s pure witchcraft—incredibly rich, creamy, and mimicking a traditional tonkotsu broth flawlessly.

6. MATA Tofu Pudding

I wrapped up the tour at the open-air Dadaocheng Wharf Container Market with a bowl of black sesame tofu pudding from MATA Tofu Pudding (山海豆花).

Silky, modern, and earthy, it’s the ultimate sunset treat by the river.
