Explore Seaside Park in Yeongjong

Come with me on a fun trip exploring this super cool park in Yeongjong.

I stumbled upon this on a walk one day and it seemed interesting enough, so I followed it along the seaside, and continually came across more and more cool stuff along the way!

It quickly became one of my favorite places to spend time out in nature in Incheon.

This massive park has pretty much got everything.

I wandered in here, intrigued by giant modern sculpures that look like spaceships looming out over the water and then bam - just look at all this stuff there is to see and do.

And just like that, there went the rest of my day.

sky tower

The Sky Deck is a series of raised walkways you can go up on and find yourself under these giant curved dome sculptures.

The walkways criss-cross and go up and down so it's fun to complete them.

Lots of art installations are sprinkled throughout.

You can then walk along the meticulously planned pathways, complete with original artwork and photos of local landmarks.

The artists who painted these murals have expertly managed to capture the exact colors of the natural scenery in the background.

I loved this modern frame installation that highlights the beauty of the real live nature just behind it.

The serene blues all seem to blend together into one.

There are walls of carefully constructed mosicac tile artwork mimicking the natural flows of wind and leaves.

And in stark contrast, massive columns of rocks are checkered along the walkway.

This area used to be Geumhong Salt Farm, one of the largest salt farms, and some fields of it have been restored as part of the wetlands for all the local birds and wildlife in the area.

And the train tracks along the coastline have turned into a rail bikeway system.

What a great way to enjoy nature with the sea on one side and lovely green trees on the other.

There are several observatories throughout this park, but I think the coolest one is the immense Sea Observatory that was inspired by Baeknyeongdo Dumunjin Rock.

It looks like it's built out of legos!

There's a even a running waterfall inside and telescopes up on the tippy top.

But there's no elevator inside, only stairs up!

The Yeongjong Sea Side Rail Bike is a fun and creative way to take in the sights  but you gotta pedal it the whole way down and back - It's a workout!

Right around the corner is the lovely Yeongjongin Park, and then the beach.

But don't ever think you're roughing it, because in ultra-modern Korea, there is every modern convenience you could want.

This park not only has free parking lots and clean bathrooms, but also street lighting and classical music playing on speakers hidden among the trees.

It's a nice touch.

This beach area goes on for quite a bit - perfect for sitting in the sand, playing in the water, having a picnic, or even some camping.

The rocks and pebbles give way to pristine clean white sand like a little strip of heaven.

At the end of the beach, you've surely worked up an appetite by now, which is great because you're in now in the bustling Yeongjong marina area where you can check out some the cool cafes with sea views.

There's plenty of great eats and drinks along with spectaular views of the water.

It's the perfect place to relax and recharge!
