3 Easy Ways to Be Happier

1. experience more real (and less digital) life

Try so hard, as much as possible, to live in real time in real life and use all your senses and your body to experience all it was meant to experience. Offline.

 

Be aware of your digital time, make efforts to cut back on it, and do occasional digital detoxes. Digital detoxes can be life changing by helping to improve your sleep habits, your brain function, your cognition, your memory and your overall happiness levels. Our bodies are not meant to stare at tiny screens all day long.

 

Take simple steps to be more present in your life. Because - (huge cliche coming up) - you only get one! But it's true. And I, for one, am guilty of this as well.

2. replace all the negativity with positivity

Get rid of all the negativity in your life. Don't surround yourself with negative people, especially online. The Minimalists once said, "You can’t change the people around you, but you can change the people around you."

 

People are all way too trigger happy to spew out negativity on social media, including outright attacking others with name calling. Like little kids. I mean really. You don't have to accept that immaturity into your life. I don't enjoy it and I can't imagine why anyone else does. So, take time to clean up your social media accounts so that your feeds don't get taken over by dementors. I don't enjoy animal cruelty so I get rid of anyone that posts it.

 

Just like the saying goes, "Don't be afraid to rock the boat once in a while. If someone falls out, then obviously they weren’t meant to be in your boat in the first place." Constantly edit what you pay attention to, whatever it may be, so that it adds value to your life. Because it's your life. And what you absorb is up to you.

3. do what makes you happy every single day

You are what you do everyday. The collective sum of your experiences becomes you. So, do what makes you happy every day. Eat your favorite foods. Wear your favorite clothes. Listen to your favorite music. Do your favorite things. Read. Take a walk. Travel. Jump on a plane. Whatever sets your heart on fire. Do it.

 

Treat your senses and yourself to anything and everything that brings you joy. Because you are so incredibly lucky just to have the opportunity to do so.

 

We are never guaranteed a tomorrow and should never act like we are.
